Katrina Hamall joined the Hunter Institute of Mental Health in September 2012 as a Project Officer on the Child Illness Resilience Project. She is currently a PhD in Psychiatry candidate with the School of Medicine and Public Health at the University of Newcastle, under the supervision of Dr Frances Kay-Lambkin, Dr Kerry Inder and Mr Todd Heard. Her thesis is evaluating the acceptability and effectiveness of a family resilience intervention which aims to reduce the risk of mental health issues for families who have a child diagnosed with chronic illness. Katrina has an Honours Degree in Psychology from the University of Newcastle and prior to joining the Institute, she has worked as a counselling psychologist with provisional registration with AHPRA, as a caseworker for children and families in Out of Home Care and Adoptions, a support worker for at-risk youth in a non-government school setting and as a Project Officer with the Hunter Centre for Health Advancement.
