Senior Research Program Officer

Kate Ross is a Senior Research Program Officer at the Centre for Research Excellence in Mental Health and Substance Use at the National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre (NDARC), UNSW. Prior to joining CREMS, Kate was a Senior Project Officer at the Australasian Society for HIV, Viral Hepatitis and Sexual Health Medicine (ASHM). In this role Kate managed the National HIV Prescriber Program and was responsible working with governments, clinicians and community organisations to improve access to quality HIV care in Australia.

Kate joined CREMS in 2016 and worked with Prof Teesson, Dr Chapman, A/Prof Newton, Dr Stapinski and Dr Champion to manage the Positive Choices and Cracks in the Ice Community Toolkit projects.

In her most recent role Kate is working with Dr Cath Chapman (Program Director) to manage a newly funded NHMRC CRE (2018-2022) which brings together leading researchers across five Australian universities to build a program of world-class innovative research and translation in prevention and early intervention of mental Illness and substance use (PREMISE CRE).

Kate is currently undertaking a Master of Public Policy and Governance at UNSW Sydney to support her interest translating research into policy and practice.
