Ms Jaelea Skehan is the Acting Director of the Hunter Institute of Mental Health. The Hunter Institute of Mental Health has an international reputation for translating the research evidence and theoretical perspectives into resources and programs in both mental health and suicide prevention. Jaelea is passionate about building understanding and capacity for health sector, non-health sector, communities and individuals to be involved in the prevention of mental ill-health and the prevention of suicide. She has worked across a range of settings and sectors and has been instrumental in the development of new models for better understanding and applying mental health promotion and the prevention of mental illness. She has also led suicide prevention, community awareness and policy related initiatives at the Hunter Institute of Mental Health.
