Dr Christina Marel and A/Prof Katherine Mills will be presenting a webinar on "Managing and treating co-occurring mental and substance use disorders".

The webinar is a CPD event hosted by the Central and Eastern Sydney Primary Health Network (CESPHN) on Tuesday 21 November 2017, from 7:00pm - 8:00pm AEST.

This webinar will provide an overview of current treatment approaches, and discuss the need for a holistic and collaborative approach, managing a broad range of lifestyle factors that contribute to comorbidity. The main approaches in addressing comorbidity will be discussed, including care pathways, specific treatment types and the evidence regarding their effectiveness, issues related to medication compliance and interaction effects, as well as referral to appropriate services.

Key learning outcomes:

  • Improved understanding of current approaches for managing and treating comorbidity, involving other services;
  • Understanding of the need to address lifestyle factors and work within a holistic health approach;
  • Improved understanding of referral pathways and techniques to facilitate referrals.
