The 38th Annual Society for Mental Health Research (SMHR) Conference is to be held at The University of Sydney in Sydney.  The conference will run from December 7-9 2016, with an exciting menu of workshops being offered on December 6. The theme of the Conference is ‘The New Wave’ reflecting the broad range of mental health and psychiatry research conducted by members, from the sub-cellular to translation and implementation science, across the spectrum of mental disorders.

The Conference is an unrivalled platform for mental health researchers and clinicians to engage in a vibrant clinical and scientific exchange. SMHR welcomes researchers from the broader health and medical sciences too, reflecting the increasing recognition of the interplay between good physical health and better mental health. The 2016 Conference will feature a comprehensive program that includes international and national keynote and plenary speakers at the forefront of science and innovation in mental health research.  The conference will also showcase tomorrow’s mental health leaders with a range of free papers, conference symposia, and a dynamic early career program.

If you are a student, an early or mid career or senior researcher, a clinician, a consumer or carer, or a policy maker, SMHR strongly encourage you to submit an abstract to the conference so that you can share your work with our community.

If you are a regular SMHR attendee, tell your colleagues, students, and others about our conference and encourage them to attend. Tell them that this conference is one they cannot afford to miss, and as always will provide plenty of opportunities for networking and collaboration and a program with amazing range, depth, and quality mental health research.
